New Blogger, Bathway, PSW, Taxi,

I am trying out the new blogger. Not sure I am going to like it as I am so used to using the previous format. I have no idea what half the symbols mean. I suppose I will find out eventually.

I had been thinking about Matt finding it difficult to get into the shower and about the cutaway done by Bathway.- of course, being a renter I just can't go ahead and do it although I did think about the saying it is easier to apologise than ask for permission. I checked out the price this morning and it would cost me best part of $1,000. Unlikely the landlord would pay. If they will let me do it. I think if I did get permission I might go to Go Fund Me, it is for a good cause after all. I put in a call to our Building Manager, see what he says. It would surely add value, a lot of renters would appreciate such an addition I would think.

Kathy, who collects my groceries, suggested that our Insurance might pay some or all of the bill for the bath, if I get permission.

Things are looking up, I am finally getting a PSW (Personal Service Worker) for Tuesdays and Fridays. I specified morning because I know Matt won't undress to take a shower once he has already dressed for the day. I am so relieved.

As you know, I have to go for a CT scan tomorrow (Thursday) and one of the girls I was talking to yesterday, on the phone, is an Intensive Geriatric Social Worker, and when she heard I couldn't get a ride from CSC she has ordered a taxi for me to go to Guelph General and then to pick me up and return me home. I am thrilled to bits because it is so helpful and takes a load off my mind. Only trouble now is Matt, when I said he would have to wear a mask he immediately said he didn't want to go.

Roasted Salmon and Asparagus with Hollandaise Sauce

4 Tbs (60 mL) oil, divided
8 salmon fillets (about
2 lbs/ 1 kg)
2 lbs (1 kg) asparagus, trimmed
1 package Knorr® Hollandaise Classic Sauce Mix

1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Coat 2 rimmed baking sheets each with 1 Tbsp (15 mL) oil.

2. Arrange salmon on 1 prepared pan and asparagus on the other. Drizzle asparagus with 1 Tbsp (15 mL) oil and toss to coat; brush salmon with remaining 1 Tbsp (15 mL) oil and season, if desired, with salt and black pepper.

3. Roast 12 minutes or until fish flakes with a fork and asparagus are crisp-tender.

4. Meanwhile, prepare Knorr® Hollandaise Classic Sauce Mix according to package directions.

5. To serve, arrange asparagus on platter; top with salmon and drizzle with sauce.

Servings: 8

TIP: For a zesty twist to your Hollandaise Sauce, stir in 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) Dijon or whole grain mustard.

TIP: The salmon and asparagus are also delicious grilled instead of roasted

Have a great day, stay well, stay safe.

  1. I am thrilled that you are getting a PSW - and that they actually listened to you when you said mornings would be best.
Good luck with the CT scan. I am glad that you are being picked up and taken there and back too.
Fingers crossed this is the start of you and Matt getting a lot more assistance.
I have yet to brave the new blogger, but suppose I should at least test drive it.
Perhaps when I prepare my Sunday Selections post.

  2. Hi Jo - good luck for today ... I haven't braved the new blogger - for now I'll stick. I do hope Matt can be helped ... lots on your plate. Asparagus and salmon ... so so good, especially with Hollandaise ... I'm going to try your asparagus and pea one tonight.

Wonderful to have had the taxi ride sorted, and then the PSW twice a week - that'll make a load of difference. All the best and stay safe - Hilary

    1. It is quite different Hilary. Not had time to do more than steam my asparagus.

The taxi and the PSW made my day.

  3. Hi Jo: I have been looking at the new blogger although I am not using it yet. Soon I will have no choice at all. The one thing I couldn't figure out is how to receive and moderate comments. Seems like things have taken a turn for the better in general, Jo, and having the transportation to Guelph organized must take a load off your mind. I visited Vincenzo's where they had lots of great asparagus and last night we made our asparagus chicken dish for dinner and it was terrific. There is probably enough left for lunch today.

    1. Don't think I like it, but might have to get to like it David. So am I glad. Well, if you're happy with 2 day old asparagus. I like to get it fresh from the field.

  4. I haven't tried the new Blogger. When I googled it yesterday, I read that the original version would still be available. Is that not true? I had my first web page back in the early 90's. I had to learn to write code. I do not want to change anything at this point. Maybe it is an excuse for me to quit blogging.

    1. You are still supposed to have a choice Denise, even when the new Blogger is fully operational. I don't want to have to change either. No, don't do that, I enjoy your blogs.

    2. I checked again and it said at the end of July everyone has to switch? I looked and didn't like what I saw. Appears they changed it to better serve phone users. Why do people who buy 60 inch TVs then try to do everything on a five inch screen???

    3. Damn, I don't think I like the new version that much, will have to deal with it I guess.

You are so right Denise, I had never thought of that. Personally I do most of anything on my PC and only if I have to, do I resort to my phone.

  5. I'm a bit reluctant to try the new Blogger - but as you say, eventually we'll get used to it. Glad to see you're getting some help Jo.

  6. Just heard of the new Blogger yesterday. Haven't tried it yet. I am usually resistant to change. Hope your excursion for your cat scan went well.

    1. Well as Denise found out, Betty, we are going to have to use it if we want to blog. What a pain.

Yup, the CT scan was very fast, I got there early and my scan was done before my appointment was officially due LOL.
