Sadly, due to bad weather conditions, the solar impulse plane had to land in
Japan so that the Pacific crossing has been aborted. This is another shot of the
plane, the wings are absolutely huge.
Matt keeps saying it’s not use and pointing out the drawbacks. He has never been remotely interested in future technology. He would have belittled the Wright brothers too I think. I think it’s a fantastic idea.
I don't care how old one is, it always makes you feel good to be told you don't look your age. I just popped upstairs in our building to give someone a copy of the obituary of a friend of theirs, we got chatting, and she said I was so much younger. When she realised I was only about 3 1/2 years younger than her she was flabbergasted and couldn't understand how I didn't have lots of wrinkles etc. It made me feel really good. It set me up in my self esteem. Now I will be going around with a swollen head for a day or two. Several people find it odd that I am as familiar with a computer as I am which again surprises me. I know others of my age and older who are pretty handy with computers. Come to think of it, I know another woman of more or less the same age as I am who doesn't look wrinkled either. I wonder if it's anything to do with the creams we use or just the luck of the draw. I tend to think the luck of the draw.
I had understood that a Mexican Mole always involved chocolate. Having checked with my favourite Mexican dragon I find that this is not so. That being said, here is a recipe for Asparagus Mole. This recipe did not come with a picture.
Asparagus-Mole
Recipe courtesy of Charles Maes, Owner of Canby Asparagus
Yield:about 1 1/2 cups
Ingredients
1 pound cut, trimmed asparagus
1 small garlic clove, minced
2 teaspoons lime juice
1/4 cup fresh (or canned) chopped jalapeno chilies
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cumin
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1/2 cup seeded and chopped tomato
Directions
Cook asparagus in small amount of water until tender. Drain well and shock in ice water. In a food processor, process asparagus and next 5 ingredients until smooth (about 30 seconds). Scrape bowl frequently. Remove from food processor and stir in onion and tomato. Chill thoroughly before serving with tortilla chips, cut vegetables, chicken or seafood.
Have a great day

I have been told I do not look my age and am very happy about that. I often believe it is the genes and how we view life. No matter what it always feels great
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it Birgit. It is nice when people tell you so.
DeleteI've always been told I look younger than my age too. Definitely genetic in my case, I think, since my only skin care involves a tinted moisturiser with sunscreen in it. when I remember it.
ReplyDeleteMy husband also hasn't come to terms with technology. He's always talking about "those poor old people" who apparently can't use computers and are probably the same age as he is.
Nice to be told though Helen.
DeleteFunny isn't it. Matt can't use a computer except to play one game.
Funny thing about aging - we all do it differently. My neighbor was complaining about having to wait until he was 60 to be a grandfather and I wish I had a picture of the 'shocked' look on his face when I told him I was 68.
ReplyDeleteIt is odd Denise. Funny when you get that reaction from someone.
DeleteMy parents are pretty good with computers. (Until my dad hits the wrong button and they call me for help.)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy looking younger than your actual age. Most people think I'm in my thirties. I just smile and accept it.
Useful son to have though. Matt can't handle a computer at all.
DeleteI do enjoy it Alex.
I thought mole recipes had chocolate in them?
ReplyDeleteMe too JoJo, but apparently Al Diaz tells me that is not necessarily true. Not all of them have chocolate.
DeleteGreat compliment about your age! My mom always looked younger than her age; I didn't get those genes from her :)
ReplyDeleteI think it is good that you are proficient on the computer. I think as we get a bit older, it is good to keep our brains stimulated with different things.
betty
Mine did too Betty. I guess I did get her genes.
DeleteI think it's wonderful for older people, especially those on their own. Look at all the friends you can make on the internet.
Ohh this sounds great! I love this asparagus kick you are on!
ReplyDeleteJust make sure you are here next asparagus season Lisa. Admittedly there are repeats, but there are usually new ones too. I love asparagus season. Actually, just got some local grown strawberries too. Yum.
DeleteAnd, I think your neighbor is right, and very nice! So sorry the plane didn't make it...yet. But I'm sure it will eventually!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa. I hope it does complete the flight although I feel it may be early days for attempting the Japan to Hawaii crossing. Although they are bound to attempt it one day, but this seems a tad soon to me.
DeleteMy mother avoided anything like computers until her last few years when we finally got her an Ipad for Christmas one year. Once she learned to use it she was on it everyday. It gave her such joy to keep up with family and friends via Facebook. You're never too old to learn about computers.

Funny that Lee, I have heard similar stories about other people's parents especially if they have iPads. Then again, I know one woman of 87/88 who has a laptop and only uses it for games I think, don't think she has a clue how to use email even. I, on the other hand, have been playing with these time wasters since the first personal computers came on the market.
DeleteI bet you have English Rose skin. We Australians are a leathery, wrinkled lot. The Victorians aren't too bad because they don't see much sun. I think genetics and not smoking have a lot to do with it too. My Mum won't go near a computer but Dad sends emails and surfs the net.
ReplyDeleteI certainly don't have that Pinky. Not sure I ever did as a kid. I do seem to have relatively good skin, not too many wrinkles. I personally think smoking has a lot to do with it. Luckily I gave up 20 years ago, Matt before that. Older smokers that I know have terrible skin.
DeleteFunny isn't it, Matt only plays one game and that's it. Took him years to do that.
I'm intrigued about the solar impulse plane, hadn't heard of that. So it is solar powered?
ReplyDeleteNice story about your neighbour! My wife is 10 years older than me, but thanks to her youthful features and my grey hair, I probably look like the older one. Got no problem with that!
I found it fascinating technology Nick. No telling what the will develop from this. We have been very slow in adopting solar technology. Housewives have been using it for centuries.
DeleteThat's an unusual age gap. I'm glad she looks young.
