In the Wars, New Blogger,

Today is Civic Holiday here so happy holidays to my Canadian readers.

I'm in the wars lately. I cut my right thumb somehow and it hurts quite badly and is somewhat swollen, then I was attacked by the fridge door which caused a bloody (literally) gash in my arm and then Saturday I slammed my finger in the patio door when closing it, another bloody mess. I think it has finally stopped bleeding. I am not a happy camper. Maybe I should stop doing things at all. I have found a pair of thin rubber gloves I can wear in the shower to protect my finger as I don't want it to start bleeding again, I really made a mess of it, there was blood all over the place for this injury. Maybe, as that's three times, I will stop hurting myself. I hope. Ladydog suggested arnica, not familiar with it, so I Googled it. Doesn't seem to be very efficacious to me.

I started typing on the new blogging system, decided to revert to the old one. I found a save button, it didn't save it, so now I don't know what I wrote. I hate the new format, it is awful. Not only that, it keeps telling me I can only have 5,000 labels. So what am I supposed to do? I don't have a clue how to delete the old ones. They don't seem to be taking into account those of us who have been blogging for  years.

This morning I asked the PSW to open up a box of Depends for me, bad finger etc. I also wore the rubber glove and ended with it full of water, guess that doesn't work. Funny washing your hair with a glove on.

Well, guess I had better go and think about supper. I have some Portabellas so will do them with some cold meat and I'm going to bake a couple of potatoes. Ladydog has told me she cooks hers in the microwave and then finishes them in the air fryer so I am going to try that.

I could never cook this as is, Matt hates peeling shrimp. He doesn't like eating with his fingers in any form whatsoever.

Doc Ford’s Yucatan Shrimp Recipe

Ingredients:

4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 large clove garlic, minced
Juice of two large limes
1 tablespoon Indonesian sambal (sambal oelek)
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 pound large, fresh, shell-on shrimp
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro

Preparation:

In a small saucepan set over low heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the garlic and cook, stirring for 2 minutes. Add remaining 3 tablespoons butter to saucepan. When it melts, stir in the lime juice, chili sauce, salt and pepper. Turn off the heat and allow the sauce to rest. Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a boil. Add the shrimp and cook for 2 minutes or until they are just firm and pink. Do not overcook. Drain into a colander and shake over the sink to remove excess moisture. In a large bowl, toss the shrimp and chili sauce. Sprinkle with cilantro and toss again.

Have a great day, stay well, stay safe.

  1. You really do sound to have been in the wars.
Me too. I overbalanced into a spiky grevillea bush while trying to weed a few days ago and bled copiously.
Jazz (aka the psycho cat) attacked the same arm twice in the next two days, so it is a mass of scratches and scabs - which re-open too easily.
I have reverted to Legacy Blogger as well. New blogger is cumbersome and slow.
Here's to better days for all.
And as a PS my partner doesn't eat with his fingers either. I think some foods demand it. He disagrees.

    1. And its not even Mercury Retrograde Sue. Why did Jazz attack you? What is worrying me, they say they are going to make us use the new blogger. I am thinking if this is the case I might have to change to another platform. I agree with you about finger foods.

    2. Jazz is a rescue cat. He obviously had some bad early experiences and every so often (too often) he lashes out. Being left alone for 'too long' is one reason.

    3. I guess he gets scared being alone. Poor puss cat. I am sorry he lashes out though Sue.

  2. You have had a bad run of injury. I hope it all heals soon. Bleeding everywhere seems to come with older years, doesn't it. My husband in particular seems to be always scraping on something then bleeding profusely.
I agree about the new Blogger. It is horrible. I'm looking into alternative platforms for myself at the moment but haven't decided which way to go yet.

    1. Well I do take blood thinners Helen which doesn't help. I bruise very easily.

Yes, I am thinking about new platforms, be interested to know what you prefer.

  3. Hi Jo - oh yes things can happen in threes can't they - I hope each cut, sore patch heals up ... take care with them - not easy I understand.

Those Portabello mushrooms are delicious aren't they and I love baked potatoes - while I must say the Shrimp recipe would suit me.

Stay safe and all the best - Hilary

    1. Don't they just Hilary. I hope that will be the end of it for a while.

Yes, the mushrooms were delicious as were the potatoes.

      Thanks

    1. Not half as sorry as I am Alex LOL.

I dislike it intensely. I think blogger are going to lose a lot of us at this rate.

  6. As for the new Blogger, if they do take away the old platform, I will just quit blogging, not that I am too active now anyway. I started with my first web page back in the mid 90's and had to learn to write code. I am not starting anything new now.
Not eat with your fingers? Hamburgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, pizza? He does pick up food right? I was totally embarrassed once when I went out for burgers with a friend who proceeded to eat it with a knife and fork. He said it was not proper to pick up food. What a jerk, IMHO.

And arnica is great for any kind of pain, be it muscle, joint or bruises. Have been using it for years.

    1. Can't say I blame you Denise. Pity though. We don't eat hamburgers, hot dogs, fried chicken or pizza so that cuts that out. Can't remember the last time I had pizza. He never liked hot dogs anyway.

OK, interesting you endorsed arnica. According to a Google article I found, medically it has not been proved to be any use at all. Guess I shall have to try it.

    2. I use the gel or cream version of arnica. My yoga instructor recommended it. Not sure how much research has actually been done on it.

    3. Well as I said Denise, it's good to hear a second opinion on it. Vaguely think I have heard of it before but never used it. Maybe I should take the recommendation of you and ladydog.

  7. All those cuts - ouch. I'm the master of bruises and my husband has threatened to bubble-wrap me.

    1. I'm pretty good on bruises too Diane. Being on blood thinners I bruise when I just bump a doorway slightly - my arms are covered in them. I like the bubble-wrap idea.

  8. I just read and caught up to your last few weeks. Please stop hurting yourself. It takes so log for things to heal as we older. Took me a lot of extra minutes to figure out the new blogger. I'll give it a chance, but I don't like unnecessary changes.

    1. Long time no see/hear Susan. I have tried it a few times and in fact see we can opt to stay with the old format. Guess what??

How's the writing coming along, still waiting for the next book to proof.
