You've Been Trumped, Hip,

I must refer you to some interesting videos on My Life in Retirement by Denise. They are more horrifying news about Donald Trump. I must say his tendency to ride rough shod over the common man and to destroy environments; basically to do what the hell he likes, frightens me to death. Not only that the way he tells lies about people and treats them like dirt. This is the guy you want for your President??? No, I know, not all of you.

Got the CD of my hip to take to the orthopaedic surgeon on Thursday. I have a questionnaire too - one of the questions is what is the level of pain. Difficult to answer, once it was very high, today not so bad. Tomorrow who knows?

As far as I know, Becel is only sold in Canada. However, a good butter tasting margarine or even butter itself I guess. I love smoked salmon. I should have everything to make this other than lime peel.

Smoked Salmon Swirls with Wasabi, Lime and Cucumber

Source, Becel

Makes 20 swirls

Ingredients

4 ounces (120 g) smoked salmon
1 tsp. (5 mL) Becel® Buttery Taste margarine*
1 tsp. (5 mL) finely grated lime peel
1/2 tsp. (2 mL) wasabi powder
2 tsp. (10 mL) finely chopped pickled ginger
1 piece (7 cm.) English cucumber, peeled and julienne sliced (3 x 3 x 3.7cm strips)
20 small sprigs fresh dill

Preparation

Step 1

Cut salmon into 20 (7.5 x 2.5 cm) slices; set aside. Blend Becel® Buttery Taste margarine, lime peel, wasabi powder and ginger in small bowl; set aside.

Step 2

Lay 1 piece smoked salmon on flat surface. Arrange 1 piece sliced cucumber at one end, overhanging both sides of salmon. Arrange dill sprig overhanging 1 side of salmon, then spread a little mixture on other end. Roll salmon tightly around cucumber and dill, using margarine mixture to seal it. Arrange seam-side-down on serving plate. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Have a great day

  1. Thanks for the nod. That';s a tasty looking appetizer. I think I would just use a good European butter like Plugra.

    1. You're welcome Denise. Never heard of Plugra. Not sure if we can get anything here but Canadian butter. Not that I have ever really looked. Maybe in our really good deli store.

  2. I would eat that.
Despite the outcome of the voting in my state yesterday, I'm proud to say I did not contribute to the coming apocalypse...

    1. Come visit and I'll make it for you Alex. I hope you voted though, a lack of vote is a vote for him.

  3. Don't get me started on my absolute hatred of Trump. I am shocked at how many friends are supporting him. That says a lot about their true character.

    1. Do go see the videos on Denise's blog. Horrifying. I don't know anyone who supports Trump.

  4. Hi Jo - I won't even discuss it ... but this smoked salmon dish is just the sort of thing I'd do - and I believe I even have some wasabi - somewhere ... might give it a go over Easter ...

    Cheers Hilary

    1. I don't normally talk politics Hilary but this is scary especially if you saw as much on TV as we do here.

I am thinking of this for Easter too.

  5. Trump is truly terrifying. It's as if parts of the US population have lost their ability to think and the rest of the US - and the rest of the world for that matter - may end up suffering from the result.

    1. Too true Helen. It is staggering how he is convincing people he is the man to vote for.

  6. I'm doing a lot of praying and he's not my candidate of choice. Unfortunately the one I think would make a great president is a long shot, but that's why I pray.

Rate your pain on a scale of one to ten; 10 being the worst. Worst days could be 8/10; good days 1/10, etc. Might help quantify it better in describing it.

    1. So long as people don't just give up on voting which is easy to do in situations like this. No vote is a vote for him Betty.

I have the idea, just don't know where I fit in these days.

  7. Mmmm, that look delicious. Trump is scary. I just don't understand who the people are that are voting for him. It's kind of unbelievable but I think it shows how people are so sick of career politicians. It's like they're flipping the bird at Washington by voting for a joke. But it's not funny.

    1. He sure is Susan. I just hope the joke doesn't become the president.

  9. I have watched every video Denise has placed on her blog and Drumpf is a true idiot and bully. It is horrible how some people think he is good. It boggles the mind. This weather has been horrible on my pain. Today has been bad. Don't downplay the pain otherwise Dr's don't seem to listen. Good luck tomorrow

    1. I do so agree with you Birgit.

Did you get a thunderstorm with lots of hail yesterday? I never thought of the weather affecting pain. It does though, you are right.

    2. Sorry for the delay, my mom has been an issue. She is refusing baths and her toe nails are horrible. We did not have hail although I did hear some thunder.

    3. Sorry to hear your mom has a problem. Does she have dementia or Alzheimer's, or at least the beginning stages?

We had large lumps of hail falling. Last night (Sunday) we got snow.
