Goodbye 2018

I can't say I am sorry to see the back of 2018 although really and truly it's not the fault of the year but just how things go. However, I ended up with computer problems again. Put my cell phone on charge and it "blew" something in the desktop computer. My repair guy is on Christmas vacation in his own country, Ukraine I think, so I have no idea when he will be back. So despite it's badly wandering cursor, decided to try the laptop. Nearly got badly burned. The battery was almost red hot. Could have caused a fire. Took it out and am working on ordinary power. I guess I am a bit fed up with Christmas holidays. I need to see my urologist too and he is also not working - I assume, and hope, he will be back next Monday.

Went to get our shopping yesterday morning, they were busy, busy, busy. I should maybe have chosen Sunday not NY Eve. However, we picked it up no problem. After lunch, decided to try visiting the bowling alley. Three cheers, I managed their stairs with little problem. I was so pleased. Might even try bowling on Monday. Won't try a league any more as Matt just doesn't move very fast at all any more and he is too stubborn to do any leg exercises. It isn't fair to anyone else to delay them so long. Unless he decides he can't bowl after all!! I hope not, it's all exercise.

As I am on my laptop, you will probably not get any recipe or pix - will see what I can do, but ...... with the cursor trotting around where it will it is pretty difficult.

Have a great day

  1. I hate computer problems. I always worry that a virus will show up even though I have great scanning programs. Maybe it is just a bad driver. I hope it is nothing drastic.
There are some days when I pull the charger out for my Kindle and it is very hot. Not sure why that happens -hmm, Google says it is normal.
Hope 2019 is better for you health wise. At least I am starting this year with no aches and pains. Let's hope it stays that way.

    1. The computer problems are bad enough, but when you can't get them fixed, makes it worse.

Glad you are feeling relatively well to start the year Denise. Wish I could say the same. UTI seems to have spread.

    2. I had a kidney shut down several years ago and got a UTI after surgery. Eventually the kidney got infected and they had to knock the 'bug' out with sulfa drugs. Nasty infection to have.

    3. Hopefully that won't happen Denise, fingers crossed.

  2. Sorry you are having issues with both computers.
Hopefully you can get some bowling in as I know you've missed it.

    1. Hi Alex, nice to see you. Happy New Year. Like I just said, it's the lack of repair guy which is worst.

Gonna try tomorrow, Thursday, see what happens.

  3. Hi JO,

Happy New Year! So glad to see you alive and kicking... lol. Been out of the blogosphere for most of December and was THRILLED to see your post. I was worried when you had taken ill. We all were.

Hope you enjoyed your holidays the best you could. This was the first Christmas I actually had the time to decorate the way I usually do. Came to Florida at Thanksgiving... in Mid November and took my time putting up ALL my decorations. Every room in my small place has added Christmas Cheer. I actually hate to take it down.

It took me days to put up: the tree alone over eight hours. It's beautiful and I did and still do enjoy it. Even managed to bake biscotti, Pumpkin pecan rum cakes, and Italian Struffoli (fried honey balls) which I hadn't make in years.

Hope you and Matt are able to bowl this year. And good luck with your computer situation...

    1. Yes it was touch and go for a while last October. We only had a few decorations. Just stuff we could plonk on a shelf or something. Missed it, I love the Christmas decorations. Should have invited you Michael. I didn't know you cooked, sounds delicious, assume mine are in the mail. Mabe going to try bowling tomorrow.

  5. Yeah on the chance to bowl again coming along. My cursor doesn't work well on my laptop either. I finally bought a wireless mouse for about $12. It saves me a lot of frustration.

    1. Trying tomorrow Susan. I have a cordless mouse. Tried changing the one from my desktop. Didn't make any difference. Read all kinds of stuff on the net, None of it worked.

  8. Very glad to hear that you managed the stairs but I'm sorry that Matt won't do his leg exercises. I don't know what it is with being stubborn like that.

    1. Yes, I was very pleased Ivy. He is doing a kind of exercise, but it won't achieve a lot.

  10. I got a new mini laptop for Christmas. It's not an expensive one, but my old one kept freezing up and everything I did on it took twice as long as usual.

I hope you get into the proper doctors and keep feeling better. You definitely want to keep bowling! I enjoy the bowling updates.

    1. Same with this laptop Liz, doesn't freeze but takes forever to get the cursor where I want it.

I am hoping both the medical doc and the computer doc will be back tomorrow.

One bowling update, we use a facecloth to dampen our hands before picking up the ball. Use it two days then bring it home to wash. Not this time, it has been sitting in a bowling bag since October. Wonder if its mouldy?
