Pretty awful, a two headed dolphin calf washed up on a Turkish beach so of course the scientists are going to study it. The experts say it is a rare occurrence although skeletons of conjoined whales have been found in the past. In fact they look pretty well developed to me. They were found by teachers on vacation according to the article.
The only thing wrong with this recipe is that I no longer have access to the fresh crab available in North Carolina. Also I would never use low fat or non fat anything, but that, of course, is up to you.
Stuffed Avocados

Pimientos and a touch of cayenne enrich a light creamy dressing for a luxurious but healthful seafood salad. Stuff avocado halves with it for a sensational lunch or light supper.

2 tablespoons low-fat mayonnaise
2 tablespoons pimientos, rinsed and patted dry
1 small clove garlic, minced
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
1/8 teaspoon salt, or to taste
2 2/3 cups cooked crabmeat, picked over
2 ripe avocados, halved
Lemon wedges, for garnish
Instructions
- Combine yogurt, mayonnaise, pimientos, garlic, cayenne and salt in a blender. Blend until smooth. Transfer to a bowl and mix in crab. Adjust seasoning with cayenne and salt.
- Divide the crab salad among avocado halves. Serve with lemon wedges
I haven't seen the Perseids in years, mostly because I was either living in an urban area with light pollution, or Washington state with cloud cover. Now that I'm here, I'm just not up that late or willing to get eaten alive by mosquitoes. I got a good pic of the supermoon the other night. Poor dolphin babies. :( I bet the mama dolphin is really sad.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen them. I guess I live in an urban area so that makes it difficult. Never thought about mosquitoes.
DeleteMakes you wonder what's in the water that would produce a two headed dolphin.
ReplyDeleteConsidering we humans have been using it as a glorified trash can for centuries, what's to wonder at really.
DeleteBummer, I forgot about the moon and the meteor shower...
ReplyDeleteThe moon is still pretty big Alex. The meteors are supposed to go on for a few nights I believe.
DeleteWe've had cloud for the past four nights so the moon has been a lost cause, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteThat's a pity Helen
DeleteMy mouth is watering looking at that recipe. Yumbo! We saw the supermoon of course but in the southern hemisphere the meteor shower was not that spectacular unfortunately. The Moon was lovely though.
ReplyDeleteHubby doesn't like avocado unfortunately but I would love this. Never did see the meteors
DeleteI didn't know about the supermoon or meteor showers. I bet that was quite a sight to see. I'd be willing to try the recipe, but without the avocado.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you didn't hear about it - it was mentioned practically everywhere. Didn't see the meteors though.
DeleteYou don't like avocado? I love them.
