Shopping Online,

Such an exciting weekend, I ordered some bras online which arrived on Friday. Saturday morning I went to put one on and guess what, it was way too small, turned out I had been sent the wrong size. I wrote to Walmart instantly, I was a tad annoyed, and I now have to take them to the post with a
special voucher to return them. I am also supposed to get an evoucher!! Not sure if I mentioned I had bought an adapter plug (you know, so I can plug in more than one thing to an outlet) and that turned out to be useless, nothing will plug into it. I am getting a refund, but have been having the devil of a time finding what I want. I finally did find it at Amazon.ca and not wanting to pay horrendous shipping, I ordered a replacement bra to go with it. I must admit I find the internet to be an extremely useful source of products so I don't have to go hunting around. I can't believe the adapter was so difficult to find. This one is a surge protector, but  it looks as though it will do the job I want. I have a coffee pot and a toaster plugged into the same wall outlet. I have to unplug the toaster every time I want to use the plate warmer and as that is almost daily, it is inconvenient to say the least. Especially as I am dumb enough to forget and try to cook something in the toaster which doesn't have power any more.

We got some rain, in fact, as I write, it is still raining. Not hard, a gentle rain which is best, especially when it hasn't rained in a long time. I just hope it will be enough. I have my fingers crossed, not only for the grass seed around our building, but for the remaining asparagus crop which has been somewhat skinny due to the lack of moisture.

Monday I plan to go to the farm and get myself extra asparagus to finally use my Mason Jars!!!

Saturday night we had Keema with Peas again, made with minced lamb. It has been in the freezer for a while and it was still delicious, I had forgotten how good. I still have some plain minced lamb in the freezer so will be making it again soon. In case you too have forgotten it, I am posting it again. Not having any poppadums I decided to serve it with bow tie pasta, mixing Italy and India.

Keema with Peas

Put a new spin on mince with this spicy Indian dish. Serve with poppadums, chutney and cooling
yogurt

1 large onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
4 cm piece ginger, grated
2 green chillies
3 Tbs oil
500 g lamb mince (approx 2 cups)
2 Tbs garam masala
2 tsp turmeric
½ a can chopped tomatoes (freeze the rest), or use 2 medium fresh tomatoes
2 Tbs natural yogurt
200 g frozen peas or cooked fresh peas (just under a cup)
1 small bunch coriander, chopped

1. Chop the onion, garlic, ginger and chillies together in a food processor. Heat the oil in a large frying pan and fry the mixture until it becomes very fragrant. Add the mince and fry until it begins to brown, stirring to break up any lumps.

2. Add the spices and fry for 1 min. Add the tomatoes and bring to a simmer, cook for 1 min, then stir in the yogurt, some salt and a good grind of black pepper. Add a splash of water if you need to, then cook the mixture for 30 mins. Add the frozen peas and cook for 5 mins, then stir in the coriander. Serve with Indian breads or poppadums, chutney and some more yogurt.

Servings: 4

Tips: Can be frozen before peas are added

Have a great day

  1. We must be getting all the rain. It has been a very wet summer here. Of course, the sump shut off and we had a flood in the basement again. Third time this spring. The sump pump has been hating us!

I love online shopping. It saves so much time. My sister lives in a bigger city and they have the grocery service where you order online and then drive through to pick up. I told her I'd probably never go into a store again. She's not a fan.

    1. I don't know how much rain we got over the weekend but suspect it wasn't enough. I would really be teed off if that happened to me once, let alone 4 times.

I love the grocery shopping online especially. I think it's wonderful to just go pick everything up.

  2. I do nearly all my shopping online. I have an Amazon Prime membership which is worth it to me to avoid shipping costs. Just had a new dehumidifier delivered. Actually, the only thing I still shop for on my own is groceries and trips to Costco.
We have been getting just enough rain regularly that I do not have to water outside. Those storms that hit you went to the north of me.

    1. I don't buy enough from Amazon to have Prime. I love my online grocery shopping.

Didn't really get storms Denise, just a gentle rain.

    3. Me neither Denise. Online clothes shopping is always disastrous for me.

  3. I can't shop for clothes or bras online....I mean unless it's just a tshirt. But I love to shop for cross stitch kits because none of the craft stores seem to sell them anymore and it's hard to find a shop that specializes in stitching. And Amazon.....I love that site!!!!!

    1. No, every time I shop for clothes they don't fit, suit, or something. I am finding Walmart to be very good too JoJo.

  4. I got some sports bras from Amazon (because the ones I like are difficult to find in stores anymore) and their small was almost too small. I think a normal sized woman might've had to resort to the extra large.

    1. Apparently Diane, the bra I ordered from Amazon.ca arrived today but we weren't here - dunno if they are delivering again or I have to go and get, not been down to the mail room yet.

  5. Hi Jo - I do like to get what I want ... but do happily use on-line, but get frustrated occasionally when I need to return stuff. The Keema does look good ... kind of meal I enjoy on occasions ... there has been rain around - just hope it comes when I'm in the dry! Cheers Hilary

    1. I know what you mean Hilary, returning is a bear. It is a good dish.

Got more rain here than I realised.

  6. This is one reason I don't like buying stuff on-line. I do get some stuff because i have to but if I can get it at a store, i will. That being said, I totally understand when someone does not have the ability to just get in a car and drive there due to medical reasons etc.. We did get the rain which is needed. Today seems like a beautiful day and if the summer was like this and the past 4 days, I would be happy. I am not looking forward to the heat and humidity coming back

    1. I know Birgit, it is a nuisance when the wrong stuff arrives. Got more rain here than I realised. The weather was delightful today here too.

  7. That dish sounds pretty good. I don't buy clothing or shoes online very often, but for other things, I'm all about finding it on Amazon and getting free shipping.

    1. It is good Susan, highly recommend it. Never bought shoes on line, don't think that would work, clothing I have only ever bought shirts, tried pants a couple of times, disaster.

  8. I never imagined anywhere in Canada to suffer from a lack of rain. As we are on water tanks not town water, it is very important for us too.

    1. Well Oz is a much drier country than here Pinky, but we have had droughts a couple of times, or so, since we came here. Linke in the States, one part has drought and fire and t'other has rain and floods.
