A to Z, Bowling, Valentine's, Booze.

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone, I do hope you have a great day.Valentines

Having talked about people with less than 100 followers of their blog, Bloggingit occurred to me, I haven’t got that many over 100 myself. I guess I need a few followers of my own blog. Today the A to Z blog mentioned sites with photographs, some lovely pictures. However, as I mentioned in the comments, some didn’t have anywhere to make a comment. I noticed that last year with some of the blogs I was trying to follow and suggested it should be addressed in the blog.

I had a wonderful afternoon of exercise yesterday, I figure I bowled My Ball88 balls. I had two spares which are only 2 balls each and that was my lot. Disasterous bowling but great exercise. Funny, at the moment Mondays seem to be good, Thursdays seem not to be. I guess it is more important to have good games in the league anyway. My bowling balls sure don’t seem to be working well for me lately though. We have 2 in 5 pin by the way as opposed to one in 10 pin.

Having worked out a Valentine’s menu which was loaded with calories, I/we decided to split up the goodies over two nights. Have the volcanoes on Friday and our Steak with a Bois Boudrin sauce on Saturday. We woulG & Td be drinking wine on Saturday too which increases the count. Friday we have a couple of drinks each as in Scotch and water and Gin and Tonic. Matt is the G & T. In case you are wondering, we decided to cut down our booze consumption considerably, partly for health reasons and partly because we found we were spending a large part of our not very big income on booze. Not having access to the billions of dollars promised to the Palestinians, we decided to cut back.

As everyone will have made their preparations for Valentine’s dinner, I figured I would give something different today. This was from Cooking.com

  1. Good luck with the cutting down on Booze resolution. We've slipped back into naughty habits partly, I think, as wine was so expensive in India we only had it with a couple of meals each week, rather than every night.

We both need to take more exercise but the weather is so appalling here that walking isn't an option so will have to use the exercise bike I think.

It funny about Blog follower numbers. I had a couple of Blogger friends whose Blogs 'went viral' overnight and they ended up with 1000+ followers. But that seemed to be the kiss of death for them. Maybe its better to have fewer followers who actually interact and post comments?

    1. We've been sticking to it for a while now Sue. I do miss the wine now and again though.

I hate exercise bikes, I had one many years ago, never did get on with it very well, prefer my treadmill.

Good blogging friend is counting up to 2,000 right now. He also seems to get hundreds of comments. I wouldn't like to be that popular, lot of work.

  5. Sometimes I'll run across a blog where I can't find a place to comment. Very frustrating. Sometimes it might take a while until I finally find a place to comment or it's just too complicated to leave a comment. Wastes my time. Blogger and Wordpress sites are usually very easy to comment on.

    1. Isn't it Wordpress that asks you to confirm every time though. That's not as bad as people who don't have easy spots to comment.

    2. Yes, WP does present that problem, but I've found that once you start commenting on the site comments are accepted much more easily as time goes on.

  6. Cutting down the booze certainly helps financially and healthwise. I love my champagne and white wine, so I add tonic water to make it feel like I'm drinking 2 glasses when it's only 1. I'm used to the fresher taste now.

Don't worry about the number of blog followers. It's best just to look after the ones you have by visiting and commenting and joining in if they're doing something you like. Most new followers you get during the A ~ Z aren't genuine...they sometimes even unfollow afterwards. But a few stick by you.

I hope I didn't upset you too much with my twisted fairytale, and thanks for pointing out 'hence'...

    1. I'm big on champagne, have a couple of glasses pre lunch on Sundays (one today as it's Valentine's).

So true about a lot of the A-Z followers. Some do stay though.

No certainly not upset, well not exactly, just all the horrid things which went through my mind.

  7. Hi, Jo. I have a rebounder. When it doesn't have stuff piled up on it, it is a wonderful way to get in some exercise. : )

    1. Don't know that exercise machine. I can't cope with a lot any more so the treadmill suits me just fine.

  8. I tend to go dry on booze for extended periods, then binge for a few days - not drunken benders or anything - just have a lot of booze until it all gets used up. Then nothing for a few months.

Happy Valentine's... our dinner was soup and chocolate.

    1. We always have booze in the house, just don't drink until the weekend and then don't go nuts unless we have guests when we drink a bit more.

Decided to split dinner up so Spaghetti with a shrimp sauce and Volcanoes tonight. Steak tomorrow night.

  9. Mmm. Looks good. I can't do Pilsbury ( I love the taste but they and my stomach are good friends) but I can see how to modify this one for the family. Dan would love it.

Oh, I like a drink now and then, but not indulged in a while. What a nice 2 part dinner you have planned for you and Matt. :-)

    1. Pity about the Pillsbury.

Had to spread out the calories. Doesn't matter for Matt but I have been working so hard I don't want to shove it all back on.

  11. G&T my favorite drink. When I open a bottle of Tangueray, I love to inhale the juniper fragrance from within. Sadly, the days of a drink every day or so are gone. That includes wine. So, now It's just once a week, if that. It affects my sleep.

  12. Another comment. I don't have many followers, and that is OK, but when I check the Stats, I see many people from all over the world read my blog, so that makes me feel good. I can't pretend to read Sci Fi or like Vampires; I am so "not with it," It reflects my age and background. But I am happy blogging with you and others, very happy.
