Sex, Bowling and Bunions, Shopping.

Yesterday I was talking a bit about the way things have changed which set me thinking some more. I remember when I was in my early 20s meeting a girl who had been told, by her mother, that sex was something nasty that you had to put up with from your husband. Even at that time that was incredibly out of date although, obviously, there were still women around who believed it. Makes me feel so sorry for those women who never learned the beauty and joy of sexual relations with their loves. Today I gather kids are giving each other blow jobs in the school yard during breaks. When I was at school I had no idea what that was. What concerns me is, not what they are doing so much as that they are probably not taking precautions and AIDS is much more dangerous than venereal diseases were to us when we were young. Trouble is, we never believed we would get such diseases and probably the same is true today of AIDS. I remember asking someone if he wasn't concerned about AIDS his reply is "She is very clean" sorry, nothing to do with it. Something else I just remembered, whilst writing this, a girl in my class fainting when we were given a lesson on the birth of babies. We must have been well into our teens then too!!! Came across this cute puppy with a heart so I had to include it. Matt and I both bowled pretty well yesterday, in fact I think both of us have got a bit better lately. I was concerned for Matt as he was getting a bit teed off with his game and not really enjoying himself any more. It begins to look like he won't be golfing this year as he is having foot problems caused by bunions which he inherited from his mum. He visited the specialist today and they are hoping NOT to have to operate. Today we are off to the $200 store (Costco) so called because people generally don't get out of there under that amount although we have done so on the odd occasion. We need to do a bit of stocking up. Plus I need more asparagus and Matt has to have a foot Xray. I haven't actually made any asparagus soup for us yet this year and I need to get a move on as the season is drawing to a close. The following soup recipe sounds a bit like the Greek Avgolemeno (egg and lemon) soup which I like very much - I will be trying this one very soon. Lemon Asparagus Soup Asparagus Grower's Marketing Board 1 medium onion, chopped 1/2 cup chopped celery 1/4 cup butter or margarine 2 tbsp cornstarch 1 cup water 2 chicken bouillon cubes 3/4 lb Ontario asparagus, cut in 1-inch pieces 2 cups milk 1/4 to 1/2 tsp grated lemon peel 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg dash seasoned salt In a 2 quart saucepan, sauté the onion and celery in butter until tender. Dissolve the cornstarch in water; add to the saucepan with bouillon. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Add asparagus. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until asparagus is crisp tender, about 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in the milk, lemon peel, nutmeg and salt. Cover and simmer for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally Yield: Serves 4 Have a great day.
