It is very tiring ...Dementia is horrible and nasty. It is very tiring for the caregivers because you see how someone you loved, slowly ebb away yet they are there but not how you remember them. They die before you and yet, you still talk with them and hope they still stay despite everything so when their physical body finally dies, you experience death twice. I really miss my mom and I see her when I go up the stairs and see her ghostly presence walk to the kitchen and say, “ Hi sweetheart, how are you?” When I visit her, about 3 times per week if not more, I see her in her wheelchair and she brightens up when she sees me and says, “ Birgit! What am I doing here?” I hug her and tell her I can no longer ca4e for her as the people here can and she says she knows that but what does she do all day. I try to let her know in a good way but she focuses on this and I repeat this about 8 or 10 times each time. She doesn’t really remember even her past much until I bring it up and she laughs a little and then asks the same question. Her blank eyes stare ahead and it is so sad to see but I am so grateful she did not pass away as I thought she would back In October. On a better note, are you watching The Great Canadian Bake Off? They had to bake a Pavlova and I thought of you.Birgithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09439720285857050428noreply@blogger.com
