Bruised Toe, Medical, Assistance,

Just to add to my miseries, I stubbed my middle toe quite badly. In the bowling alley, when it's raining or snowing, you have to be sure to remove your wet shoes before you come into the alley proper. Dangerous to have wetness on the alleys themselves. So there was I walking around shoeless and walked into my cane, it really hurt. Not sure if my toe is just bruised or broken. I can't wear shoes at the moment, they were agony on the way home yesterday. It even hurt getting into bed last night and the toe was throbbing quite a bit.  Walking is painful too. Luckily I don't have to go anywhere for a day or two.

Didn't realise that Matt has an appointment at St. Mary's hospital on Tuesday and I have one on Thursday. I tried to get them on the same day but couldn't do so. How annoying. Mine is for noon too, when do they think you eat lunch? My friend suggested I get rides so we don't have to do any walking. Even more important now, with my toe. It is a longish walk, for us anyway, from the parking lot into the hospital lobby.

I had a visit from Community Access Services (think that's right) turned out it was a girl I knew well as she had run the exercise classes for a while. Anyway, we have arranged for me to get assistance with collecting the groceries as well as rides to the hospital or any other medical appointment. It will cost me 54 cents a kilometer, i.e. $4 to collect the groceries and about $7 to go to St. Mary's. I have to go to Grand River Hospital some time too, think that's a bit further. However, the driver can drop us off right by the door which will save a lot of trouble and discomfort for both of us. As for the, shopping we have a huge shopping trolley down stairs, but by the time I have pushed it upstairs my legs are killing me once more. Think I mentioned that before.

This evening (Thursday) the computer guy comes, not sure how long it will take him to fix it. Fingers crossed it won't be long, I have so much stuff to enter. I need to get things organised better and get this laptop fixed so that the important stuff is up to date on both machines. Talking of organisation, I had to prove our financial status. Found my tax stuff all disorganised. Guess that was when they had to prove Matt's income for Meals on Wheels. Need to sort it all out. I still don't have a lot of energy for such things unfortunately.

Computer is fixed - something pretty simple actually which I could have done for myself had I known.

Have a great day

  1. I am always banging my toe into things. I once told Annalisa Crawford I stubbed my toe and she thought I'd cut it off. LOL. You bruise your toe, I stub mine.

Excellent idea to use the ride service. Save your energy for the fun things.

I never have energy for the financials and the paper work. I have a stack of things I need to do and I am putting it off until Caleb goes back to school.

    1. I've never banged my toe this badly Liz, I am not certain it isn't broken. Nothing anyone can do if it is.

I usually do have energy for paperwork, but not right now.

  2. You could try to wrap your injured toe to the one next to it. Of course, that would require having some gauze in the house. I've thought that there might be a time when using Uber would work for me. I don't mind driving into the city during the day, but I do not like driving back home at night.
Computers can make us crazy. One day my screen got blurred and it turned out I just had to push the plug back in all the way. Glad I figured it out before I spent any money on it. Always nice to have another computer to Google stuff on.

    1. I have the gauze Denise, I wonder if that would help. Will try it. I don't know about Uber, one hears so many nasty things about them on the news. The rides I am using are volunteers with Community Access Services. Turns out if I use the mouse, on my laptop, on the table instead of the chair arm, it stops wandering. I have been using it on the chair arm for years without problems so don't know why it doesn't like it now. Didn't cost me a cent last night. He also said he wouldn't be spending Christmas in the cold again but would go south in future LOL.

  3. Yay the computer is fixed! Boo the toe! I know that hurts. Glad you have the services to help you get where you need to go. That is a huge help. I've heard the only thing they can do for a broken toe is what Denise said, wrap it to the next one. Good luck and hope the pain goes away fast.

    1. Thank goodness Lisa. There was nothing serious anyway. Yes, the toe hurts, however today I wore shoes and socks and it helped support it.

  4. I understand, I'm always running into things, and have black and blue toes to prove it. Need steel toes shoes on at all hours. :)
I just spent 5 frustrating hours trying to establish new phone service. And then 3 hours regarding insurance snafu's. All on the phone! Ridiculous! I hate phones, phone transfers, and insurance in general! LOL But hubby congratulated me on my patience. Something I don't normally have!

I don't envy you that job. Patience is a virtue, didn't you know???
