Olympics, Door Trouble, Bowling.

Women's MogulsHave you been watching? We missed the opening ceremonies unfortunately. Have seen some of the skating, was delighted that the Canadian team won the silver in the team skating event. Also, thrilled to bits about the two sisters who won Gold and Silver for the mogul event. The pair of them were so excited, it was great to see. Justine Dufour-Lapointe and her sister Chloe carried them off. I don’t think I would like that sport, I cannot believe, in the long run, that it would do your brain much good with all that shaking and bumping. We also got a bronze in snowboarding so we are feeling pretty proud of our athletes at the moment. I was sorry not to see the skating finals. The flowers don’t seem to be a lot more than greenery, haven’t seen a proper picture of them yet.

Funny story which really got a reaction on Twitter apparently, a US johnny-quinn-sochi-bathroom-doorbobsledder, Johnny Quinn, got trapped in a bathroom and not having a phone, had to break down the door in order to get out. He said he reported it and thought he might be in trouble but the Russian officials were very nice about it.

Bowling again today. Hope I do better than I did last Thursday. Matt Bowling Pin Placement 5didn’t do much better either. Next week, February 17, is Family Day here so our league bowling has been cancelled. However, the alley have agreed that if we want to we can bowl there on the Tuesday, downstairs. Never even been downstairs, let alone bowled there. Guess it’s much the same but I believe it is set up for Cosmic Bowling for people wishing to hold birthday parties and such.

This is what we had for supper on Saturday night. It was delicious but poor Matt found it too spicy hot for him. I loved it. I guess if we make it again, we will have to tone down the chilli sauce. Not the best picture, guess who took it? We had already taken half of it out when I suddenly thought “picture”!

    1. If you enjoy the cold Alex, do come visit. You would be most welcome and we have lots of snow right outside our door.

  2. Watching the Olympics has pointed out that we really need to get a DVR so we can do some time shifting. Could not stay up last night until they got back to the iceskating.

    1. I remember one year, whilst still in the UK, sitting up til all kinds of night watching the Olympics in Japan. Wouldn't do it now. Guess recording it is a good idea.

  3. I almost got trapped in a bathroom in England once. They are so tiny over there. After that, I looked for handicapped stalls.

    1. I don't remember tiny. It's a very long time since I used a public bathroom in the UK though.

  4. Oh my gosh, that cabbage dish looks great. My family loves cabbage and this would be a great way to change it up.

I was trapped in a bathroom for a few minutes in either Luxembourg or the Czech Republic. Don't remember which. But, my hubby was there to rescue me quite quickly.

    1. It is a great dish Elsie. Do try it.

Lucky your hubby was there. Actually, thinking about it, I believe my mother got trapped once. Don't remember any details though.

  5. Yum, looks good to me, Jo. I use cabbage in stirfries. Adds a nice touch. Wish Dan liked sauerkraut. I love it in a good pork roast. There have been a few times I've made it with just enough sauerkraut for me and the potatoes for Dan. Funny, he loves pork and chicken adobo and that's pretty sour as it's made with vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, and onions. Go figure. :-)

This year, for some reason, I have no interest in winter sports. I usually love watching the skating.

    1. Just finished the leftovers tonight. It was still good. Never made chicken adobo, must look at a recipe.

Canada is doing well so far which makes it even more interesting.

  6. Nice recipe. I'm a big fan of the Olympics... in principal... but I've not watched any of it so far this year. I did see our bobsledder got stuck in the bathroom. He was an NFL football player at one time, so it's no surprise he beat through the door.

    1. Didn't know he was a footballer. I am enjoying the Olympics more as Canada is leading the medals list. Don't know how long that will last, but enjoying it whilst it does.

  7. Haven't watched the first minute of Olympics coverage yet. Of course, haven't watched anything else on television for that matter. Just don't have time, it seems.
