Pie Crusts, Allergies

I must admit it never occurred to me, that because it is so easy for me to buy pre-made pie crusts whether sweet or pastry, that maybe others couldn't. If you read the comments you will see I was asked about a chocolate crust which here would basically be made with chocolate Graham Wafers, butter and sugar, but can be bought in grocery stores in my part of Canada so I never bother to make them. As for pastry, I am afraid I was never a very good pastry cook so the ability to buy pastry crust is wonderful for me. Although I did start to make decent pastry after a few tips from my ex husband's new wife who made wonderful pastry. My problem was heavy handed rolling. I found that Cooks.com has recipes for chocolate pie crusts if you need to make your own. I just Googled another, CD Kitchen at this site which seems to have even more recipes. There was a discussion on GMA this morning about seasonal allergies and some of the myths which surround them. You can read about some of the myths here at GMA and discover that some of the things we thought helped, don't. I think I have mentioned before that when we first came to Canada I was told that Ontario was the allergy capital of the world. It didn't affect me when we first lived here, I then lived in North Carolina where the pine trees shed clouds of pollen every spring, so much so that our blue car turned green and the furniture indoors had a yellow dusting all over, that didn't affect me either. However, now we are back in Canada, I am sneezing along with the best of 'em. Anyway, if you want a recipe for a pie shell, this is one from CD Kitchen. It really couldn't be simpler. There don't seem to be any pictures of a chocolate pie shell on its own. So a cooking chocolate picture is what I am giving you. Chocolate Crumb Pie Shell 1 1/2 cup Chocolate cookie crumbs 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar 1/4 cup Butter, melted

Mix ingredients until thoroughly blended. Press into a 9" pie pan. Bake at 375 degrees F for 8 minutes.

Have a great day.

  1. Pie crusts, yes, those one can buy here. As I do not bake, I've not tried on yet. Our bakeries have such wonderful cakes and pies that one really does not have to bake one's own here.

    Happy Easter, Jo!

  2. We can buy wonderful cakes and pies here too, Marilyn, but its not really the same as serving something which you baked yourself.
