Flying Penguins in a BBC Documentary, Yogurt

April Fool's Day once again. Good Morning America had a segment about some of the greatest hoaxes which included one from the BBC in the 50's showing a spaghetti harvest. This one about Penguins migrating was the BBC's offering this morning. Other pranks included an ad for a hamburger for those who were left handed and people actually went in and asked for them.

Yesterday I was raving about David's Gourmet, later in the day I tried the Mediterranean Yogurt I bought. It was absolutely delicious. Not like the yogurt I was looking for, but who cares, it was like eating cream with a slightly yoghurty (new word) tinge to it. I'm not sure its exactly diet food, but yum. If you are interested click here for the website of delicious dairy products. Matt found a veal recipe in the newspaper yesterday. It listed the source from ontariovealappeal.ca and the picture in the paper was in black and white so I checked it out, found the same recipe and picture and we plan to have it this Saturday for dinner. VEAL SCALOPPINI WITH FENNEL, RADICCHIO AND CITRUS SALAD Dressing: 1/4 cup minced shallots 1/2 tsp each salt and fresh ground pepper, divided 2 tsp Dijon mustard 1 Tbs maple syrup 1 Tbs white wine vinegar 1/4 cup orange juice 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 1 cup thinly sliced fennel 1/2 cup thinly sliced celery 1/2 cup torn radicchio 4 pieces Ontario veal scaloppini (about 1 lb ) 2 cups mache or boston lettuce 1/2 cup orange segments 1/4 cup toasted sliced almonds 1 In bowl, whisk together shallots, half of the salt and pepper, Dijon mustard, maple syrup, white wine vinegar and orange juice. Whisk in olive oil in a steady stream until well combined. 2 In large bowl, toss fennel, celery and radicchio with half of the dressing. Set aside. 3 In separate shallow bowl, pour remaining dressing over veal. Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Brown veal on both sides until golden and cooked through, about 2 minutes per side. 4 Arrange veal over 4 plates. Top with mache. Spoon fennel mixture over top and sprinkle with orange segments and almonds. Servings: 4 Cooking Tips Served warm, this veal scaloppini salad combines both sweet and savoury flavours. Fennel, radicchio, mache, almonds and orange segments are dressed with a simple maple Dijon vinaigrette creating the perfect lunch or light dinner. Served on a warm Ontario veal scaloppini, this innovative and nutritious salad bursts with flavour. Have a great day.

  2. I had my own April Fool joke. It's a bit late to repeat it now, but will do so anyway.

Have you heard about the negotiations between Air France and Eurostar for the airline to be able to fly UNDER the English Channel, and alongside the trains, between Paris and London?

You are not going to believe this, but there were people who believed me ...

  3. I believe you Marilyn, there is no end to people's gullibity. I was talking about the Penguin flight yesterday and I think someone believed it was serious.
